| Feeding Kittens
The most rapid growth in a kitten’s life occurs during the first six months. Indeed, kittens may triple their weight in the first three weeks of life! Kittens are usually weaned by six weeks of age and reach adult size at eight to twelve months. This fast rate of growth means that kittens need a nutritionally complete food with high-quality protein for optimal growth and development. They require as much as twice the level of nutrients that an adult cat requires. Therefore, they should be fed a diet formulated specifically for growth of for all life stages.
Exclusive™ and PMI Nutrition® Cat Formulas are both formulated for all life stages to provide complete and balanced high-quality nutrition for kittens and adult cats of all breeds and ages.
Kittens can be introduced to solid food at four to six weeks of age. Dry food can be moistened to improve its palatability and make it easier to eat, but be sure to remove it and provide fresh food twice a day to prevent spoilage. Kittens should be fed two to three times a day up to four months, then twice a day thereafter. By four months, the kittens’ teeth are strong enough to eat dry food easily. Do not provide additional nutritional supplements or table scraps; Exclusive™ and PMI Nutrition® Cat Formulas are nutritionally complete. Adding additional foods could create a potentially harmful nutrient imbalance. Always be sure to provide your kittens and cats plenty of fresh, clean water at all times.
